Superpower

Do you remember when the superhero Green Lantern says: ‘In the brightest day, in the blackest night, no evil shall escape my site. Let those who worship evils might beware my power…green lanterns light!” and then there is an explosion of superpower?

Can you recall when the Human Torch of the Fantastic 4 yells  “Flame On!” And He bursts into powerful flames?

Then of course, there is Shazam, who yells out his own name: “Shazam!” and he becomes a superhero, transforming from the young kid he was to a man with superpower.

Sadly, too many of us are like those superheroes, like Shazam, who live in the power of their own name...even Christians fall into that trap.

Because they boast about the power they have (or THINK they have.)
They don’t even understand they can live WITHIN a power that is so much more than they could ever imagine!

    I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.
   • 2 Corinthians 12:9

Who wants to boast about their weakness?
Do you?
I know I sure didn’t.
I loved to hear the shouting of my name, loved to talk about the power of my strengths.

I mean seriously…
          • Does anyone want to gloat on how much fear they live with?
          • Does anyone want to boast on how bad their pride really is?
          • Does anyone want to brag about the weak faith they have?

No, of course not.
Superheroes don’t do that.
But it is there, in that place, when we CAN boast of our weaknesses,
Where we can really start to feel the power of GOD in us!

We can know where the real power that is in us, sincerely originates from.

 HE who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
   • 1 John 4:4

Ok, but how does one get to THAT place?
To the place where we KNOW that it is God’s power in us?

By Faith.
Fine. But how do we get THERE?

Our faith comes by hearing, and hearing through the Word of Christ (Romans 10:17), which means we need to get into the Word!

We need to;
         – Read it
         – Listen to it
         – Learn it
         – Memorize it, so we can
         – Understand it.

Because then, in that process, we can grow to KNOW HIM!

    Grow in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience
   • Colossians 1:11

As we grow in our knowledge of God, if we are sincere,
We will learn;
1. The art of humility.

What comes with humility, is;
2. The art of endurance and patience.

With that comes with endurance and patience is;
3. The art to count it all joy when we find ourselves in suffering.

We will find the ability to glory in our suffering because that produces patience and that produces hope.

What we wind up with, is the treasure that we all want to have;
The knowledge that it is all HIS power that does it all, and not ours!

    But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the surpassing greatness of the power will be of God and not from ourselves;
   • 2 Corinthians 4:7

So, to sum this all up, instead of using our power, thinking we are some kind of superhero like the fakes we see in the movies,
Let us live, in our blessed weakness, surrendered to the ultimate superpower of the real & eternal superhero.

Let us NOT yell out our name or boast about our accomplishments to everyone so we can try to show off our power,
But instead let us yell out the name of JESUS and actually prove to everyone how that is really how to get the superpower.

Through HIS name.
The name of the ultimate superhero.

    The name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
   • Philippians 2:9-11

Praise HIS name!
Yell it out for your superpower!

I love you guys!
