The Storms
If you are a Christian today, were you like me in the very beginning?
Did you somehow, like I did, have the impression that since God was now in my life, that my problems were over?
That the storms had passed?
Right.
I know. Kind of a silly mindset as I look back.
But it is NOT a silly ‘hope’ to have.
I knew my life was completely different.
I knew that everything had changed.
What I didn’t know was that God never promised to stop the storms.
As a matter of fact, The Bible actually states we will have many of them!

☆ When your dread comes like a storm
And your calamity comes like a whirlwind,
When distress and anguish come upon you.
• Proverbs 1:17

Somehow, because of the impression of those loud TV evangelist and all their smiling Christians, I had a belief that all trouble would disappear from my life, now that I had accepted Christ.
That was a belief that was strengthened because I felt so different as a man.
I had such a new feeling in my heart.
I knew I wasn’t the same person anymore.
I didn’t take into account that obviously;
• I still lived in the world
• I still had a family
• I still had a job
• I still had relationships with others.
So I was still going to face the storms of life.
But this is the place where we can learn one of the best lessons we will ever learn for our faith;
When God is all you have, you realize God is all you NEED.

☆ You lift me up to the wind and cause me to ride;
And You dissolve me in a storm. • Job 30:22

God doesn’t stop the storms.
God never promised us HE would.
However, God is so wonderful to use the storms of our lives to
– wash us
– cleanse us &
– purify us
But the most important reason He uses these storms is to bring us to RELY on him.

☆ For You have been a defense for the helpless,
A defense for the needy in his distress,A refuge from the storm, a shade from the heat;
• Isaiah 25:4

Over and over God tells us in HIS Word how HE yearns for us to run to HIM.
That it is HIM we think of first to seek shelter in.
And that message is even more pronounced with Christ, as HE speaks directly of it.
Jesus reminds us of HIS promise.
Jesus reminds us of HIS victory.
Jesus reminds us of HIS example.
Jesus reminds us of the walks we WILL have through the storms.

☆ “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
• John 16:33

So Jesus is telling us the whole point of this blog right here.
He is saying;
I’M NOT GOING TO CHANGE
THE STORMS FROM COMING;

I’M CHANGING YOU
IN THE STORMS THAT ARE COMING!

• HE has promised us so many times to be our hope.
• HE has promised us so many times to be our rest.
• HE has promised us so many times to be our peace.
• HE has promised us so many times to be our quiet.
• HE has promised us so many times to be our SOLUTION.
The Lord tells us that when the storms come, HE will comfort us.

☆ The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
• Psalm 34:18

So, when the storms come, and we know they will, let us hold on to HIM.
He let us know HE wants that.
HE told us HE would be holding onto us right back.
I love you guys!
