THE TRUTH HURTS
Early, within the first few years of my being a Christian, I heard this statement that I thought was funny enough, that it made me laugh.
It was;
‘The truth will set you free, but only after it pisses you off!’
At that time, I thought it was funny, because I also thought it was so ludicrous.
But since then I have learned, sadly, that for so many people, that statement is very true.
Life as a Christian has showed me that for the hard heart, The Truth Hurts.
That is why so many Christians are flocking to the many wolves who are in sheep clothing.
They want a truth that ‘Feels’ good.
They are seeking to hear messages from the pulpit to fit their lifestyle, not looking to change their life style to fit the message from God.
☆ For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions
• 2 Timothy 4:3
That time is now.
We are there today.
There are SO many people who are teaching others, in the name of God, things that are NOT of God, or IN the Bible.
But things that meet ‘Their Truth’ (not THE Truth)
Things like;
• Collective Salvation
• Prosperity Theology
• Liberation Theology
• Man is God
• Many Ways To Heaven
• Worship of Saints
• Works Based Salvation
Etc…
All of these teachings are very popular, easy to find, very common, extremely prosperous, and are truths that is attractive to the listener.
And there are many wolves who are willing to stand up and teach it.
Because they teach this lie, they are either ignorant and don’t know the truth, or evil, because they DO know the truth, but also know that, for their flock, the truth hurts.
☆ For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. So it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds.
• 2 Corinthians 11:13-15
But that teaching is very dangerous.
Because that teaching is very deadly.
If someone is teaching something that is NOT Biblical, but they say that it is Biblical…that is really the enemy teaching.
Still, as we can easily see today, those teachings create huge blocks of converts that become prisoners.
However,
We have ways to protect those lies from infecting us.
We still have the resources of a few very good ‘EXPOSITORY’ Biblical teachers that go verse by verse, chapter by chapter, book by book through the Bible so that personal opinion, or ideology are NOT what is taught.
That way, with confidence, we can boldly speak to the authenticity of The Word.
☆ Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.
• 2 Timothy 2:15
This is how God wants us to be.
He dies not want us to fear that the truth hurts.
We may be pierced by the Word, moved into repentance, and motivated into action.
That may be hurt, in the way that a wound hurts during healing, but it is not a hurt that we need to fear.
– It is a release of old lies.
– It is a removal of old thoughts and behaviors.
– It is a rebirth from an old bondage – and
– It is a renewal of a new life
The truth hurts only if we refuse it.
☆ If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
• John 8:32-33
And it won’t piss us off.
