Unity

Uniformity, and unity are NOT the same thing.
Tuesday night in the Men’s Group, the Lord had us speaking about unity.
We looked at 3 areas of unity;
   – The Group
   – Inside the Home
   – Outside the Home
As Christians, we are supposed to live in Unity…everywhere…but do we?

The reason this topic was so impactful for me Tuesday night, was because there may be some changes coming up in the Ahavah Ministries future for the location, times or layout of the live sessions.
And I was wondering how, if at all, it would impact the unity.

Uniformity and unity are NOT the same thing.
Uniformity is EVERYTHING being the same with everyone.
Unity is being in harmony as many who are different act as one.

The unity in the groups are so strong, so deep and, as we agreed to every man last night, powerful in the way we refine, build and encourage each other in our faith.

But, in and outside of the church and the fellowship, there are those who thrive on division.
Not just division IN the church, about the scriptures, about the teaching or about the way the faithful should be.
     –  But also;
Divisions in the home; Spouses or family members who find comfort through familiarity with conflict or crisis.
Divisions outside of the home: Extended family or friendships with people who need to be right, rather than happy.
(Both interchangeable, and not exclusive)

   • You must remember, beloved, the predictions of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ. They said to you, “In the last time there will be scoffers, following their own ungodly passions.” It is these who cause divisions, worldly people, devoid of the Spirit.
   ☆ Jude 11:7-19

We are to be aware of the divisions, and the people that create them.
We are to keep our walk steady in the way of the Lord, and not be in any agreement with any of those who have that kind of
     • Pride
     • Bitterness
     • Resentments
     • Self Centeredness
     • Worldliness

So, as the scripture tells us, we need to ‘KEEP OUR EYES’ on those people
Yes, Christian, that is what we need to do, make personal judgements on people’s behaviors, actions and words.

   • Now I urge you, brethren, keep your eye on those who cause dissensions and hindrances contrary to the teaching which you learned, and turn away from them.
   ☆ Romans 16:17

So, what do we do then, after we have determined who that person is?
We keep working with God in building our faith, our walk, our integrity our love.

When we find ourselves in those places, with those ‘dividers’,
Let us be that person who can bring those people into agreement with God.
For, if WE are also in God, it then will make that person in agreement with US.

So what we are doing is CREATING UNITY.

Now I exhort you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all agree and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be made complete in the same mind and in the same judgment
   ☆ 1 Corinthians 1:10

So that creates in us the example of God.
That helps us to be approachable, accessible and yet, still teachable.
We can be the person that creates an interest in others to know what we know.
Let us be the person that walks with such integrity, that walks as HE walks, that we can pass that on.

The one who says he abides in Him ought himself to walk in the same manner as HE walked.
   ☆ 1 John 2:6

This way, we can serve God, in the many ways we are all so different.
We create a unity in the one mind of God, but have the different applications of service, as different parts of the body.

Uniformity is NOT unity.
We all have our different strengths, weaknesses, likes and dislikes.

When we place our identity firmly in Christ, we can determine what our specific place is in His body.
When we know what our place is within the body of Christ, we can then be a powerful source of knowing and doing HIS will.
When we are a powerful source of knowing or doing HIS will, God’s work can be done and people can be completely transformed.

   • For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.
   ☆ Romans 12:4-5

But that is not what the world wants.

Our culture is trying to form a system of Uniformity.
Things must be spoken, believed, respected and accepted by everyone.
Uniformity only causes disunity.

But we know what The Word says;
It wants us to create UNITY.

Let us continue walking toward HIM, having HIS Words in our hearts, living with HIS love in our souls.

 • Complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind.
   ☆ Philippians 2:2

So in our life, everywhere, no matter what, we can feel that deep peace of living in the UNITY of GOD.
