I get amazed, that I’m still amazed when I see how God had His Word so perfectly written.
– After the belt of truth, which holds all the armor together, God has Paul write about the defense of the most vulnerable part of our being…our hearts.
The heart of a man can be desperately wicked. (Jeremiah 17:10)
That is why it is protected by the breastplate of righteousness.
God is telling us that it is only HIS righteousness that can protect it.
How do we get God’s righteousness?
Simple;
Belief.
As Abraham believ3d, and God credited it to him as righteous, so must we.
So, it is a matter of putting two truths together here;
1. A person will think, act, and behave on what they believe.
2. 1 John chapters 2 & 3 tells us we are to ‘practice righteousness’.
So, if a person sincerely believes, surrenders, and obeys our righteous God, that person will live a life practicing the righteousness OF God.
– Sadly, we can see those in the church who do NOT believe as they may say or even think they do.
Those people are not standing out as ‘practicing righteousness’.
Let that not be us.
Thanks, Lord, for the sincerely truthful belief in God, that prompts us to obedience, that creates within us a daily discipline of practicing righteousness.
