What sign do you need?
There are too many Christians who need them today.

A few days ago, we talked about proof.
Proof is evidence of things that have already happened.
This is different.
SIGN is a confirmation, providing credence of something yet to happen.

The Pharisees and Sadducees were blasted by Jesus for asking Him to show them a sign (Matthew 16).
Since he knew their hearts, He realized they were just trying to test Him, trap Him and triumph over Him.
However, just a few short chapters later, the Disciples also asked Jesus about signs (Matthew 24) and he went into a long explanation of the signs they should be looking for.

Therefore, the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
   • Isaiah 7:14

But that was what made Jesus the most distressed…
– No one was aware of His birth
– No one was ready for His presence

– No one was expecting His miraculous coming.

So, here they are, the Pharisees, Sadducees and even the Disciples, all asking for signs.
Asking Jesus to give them something they can hold on to, because faith, well their faith, was just not enough.
Ye, all the while, they were all so blind, to all of the signs, that were all so the obvious…right in front of their faces.
Jesus Wept.

They did not have a clue to what is around them, just as today, it appears that we do not have that many people who can really see the signs of the time.
Jesus may have been saying ‘WHAT SIGN DO YOU NEED, because Jesus also said:

“When it is evening, you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red.’ And in the morning, ‘It will be stormy today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times.”
  • Matthew 16:2-3

What happened then, can be happening right now.
If they had read the Word of that time (The Pentateuch, The Psalms, and the Prophets) and really ‘knew’ it, they would have known the day, time, and specific signs to look for.

Well, I would like to say that we have that going on RIGHT NOW.

The global Christian Church has not really taken on the teaching of Eschatology (The study of the expectation of the latter days).
Most churches are really looking into the now – the fuzzy warm feeling of the loving mercy of Christ.
THAT IS GOOD.
But that is not all.

We can be extremely good at one part of our job, but still get fired because we did not do well at all in several other parts of the job that were also very important.

We have signs all around us, with more promised to come and we should be reaching, preaching and teaching everyone we can about it.

But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power.
   • 1 Timothy 3:1-5

Let us be aware of these sigs.
Let us know what they mean.
Let us be prepared.

But best yet…

Let us never have someone say to us ‘What sign do you need’?
For all we need is to only have our faith…because we believe.

I love you guys!
