Is your faith lukewarm?
A Story;
There was a church that was on fire when it started.
It was full of passion and hot to do the work of the Lord.
It got big, became successful, started getting publicity and national recognition.
It had works that were being touted as ‘game changers’, ‘life impacting’ & other churches should model it.
It was awesome.
In time, there seemed to be a need to keep those big numbers up.
So changes were made that they thought would
‘reach the needs of the community’.
So, staff, worship, & children’s ministry leaders were changed.
Things that would reflect the culture & encourage the new believer.
☆ Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
• Romans 12:2
Sadly, it didn’t work, the changes had adverse effects.
So they tried again.
Different approaches to service, inclusive congrational participation, different speakers, comedians, & concerts.
But fractures within the church happened, feelings got hurt, leaders left, pillars of the congregation moved on, & the impact of the work of the church lost it’s luster.
But the worst part;
To keep a butt in the seat,
The message lost the heat.
Because it was a message that was;
Conformed to meet the Community
instead of
Preached to Pierce the heart.
☆ For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions,
• 2 Timothy 4:3
Sadly, it achieved the opposite of the intended consequence, & the church went down from 5 services to 1.
Today, there’s 2 churches.
1. It speaks of injustices of today’s culture, loves the diversity of identity, & morphes Bible scriptures to agree.
&
2. The Bible teaching church of what the Bible actually says.
Sometimes against what the culture actually agrees with.
At times, the Word will convict of sin to convert the heart.
