Today’s scripture reminds us that God has given us control of our own body, and the ‘I couldn’t help it’ excuses not a worthy explanation.
I couldn’t help it is not a legitmate reason to give for a man who says he is in The Lord.
God has told us this many times.
☆ For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.
• 1 Timothy 1:7
This is a tough message, but it is a true message.
The ‘I couldn’t help it’ excuse it has been a staple excuse of so many people…forever.
It has been used for everything;
Alcoholism, dishonesty, anger, bitterness, jealousy, laziness, fear & sexual misconduct.
Just to name a few.
But that is a lie.
God has told us that in HIS power, that can be in us, that is all we would ever need.
Because HE CAN help it!
☆ No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
• 1 Corinthians 10:13
So,
Let us stop making excuses.
Let us stop being unaccountable.
Let us start being responsible, in our Faithfulness to God.
Let us start being disciplined in ALL our ways in HIS Name.
Because God has made a way, promised us HIS power, and support through it, and wants to give us success in it.
But we will not see any of that is we live with ‘I couldn’t help it’.
☆ But hospitable, a lover of good, self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined.
