Pornography

Do you have a problem with pornography?
Odds are very high that you do.
I know I do.

It is an addiction, like alcohol.
Sadly though, even as 7% of men in the U.S suffer from alcohol addiction,

33% of men in the U.S. suffer from pornography addiction.

~ yet, even worse ~

36% of MEN WITHIN THE CHURCH have porn addictions!

Think about that…5 times more men, within the church, have issues with porn, more than they do with Alcohol!

This verse (Job 31:1) speaks about making a covenant, a CONTRACT, an AGREEMENT, to not even look lustfully, with self.

Job was making an agreement with his own body to not sin against it. That makes no sense to most men today. We make agreements to stop with many people, and we will make promises to never do it again for a lot of reasons, like;
• To not lose a marriage
• To not hurt a relationship
• To not harm children
• To not lose a job
• To not be expelled from a church
but to make an agreement to stop with our eyes…

Job was on to something.

   ☆ Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body.
   • 1 Corinthians 6:18

Every one of the reasons I listed are valid reasons to stop.
They are great causes to make a promise to stop looking at pornography.
But our first reason to stop, should be because we are damaging ourselves.
– We are hurting our own bodies.
– We are corrupting our own souls.
– We are tarnishing our own spirits.

And men, if we say we are a Christian, none if those are really ‘ours’ to do that to anyway, because as the very next version says;

   Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself.
   • 1 Corinthians 6:19

So, are we so blinded by the sin of lust, coupled with our self-centered need for immediate gratification, that we will not only harm our own bodies, souls and spirits, but we will also blatantly disrespect God’s property?

Sadly, too often, we have.
We probably didn’t even want to, we even tried to stop, but we couldn’t.
Because WE CAN’T

But PRAISE GOD!

We don’t have to even try anymore.
We can just give it to God…seriously.
It is written;

   Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand
   • Isaiah 41:10

   ☆ But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one.
   • 2 Thessalonians 3:3

   ☆ No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
   • 2 Corinthians 10:13

We have been promised, by the Word of God, that we will be protected from the evil temptations of this world.

Do we believe it?
Or…
Is what the enemy says about the safety within the lust of pornography, and how it doesn’t really harm anyone, how it is no big deal, or that you can stop any time you want…is THAT more believable?

What do you want more?

To enjoy the fleeting seconds of physical enjoyment;
Or
To respect your body, which belongs to God, which in turns then honors HIM?

   God bought you with a high price. So, you must honor God with your body.
   • 1 Corinthians 6:20

The choice is yours.

I love you guys!
